Microsoft Names 40 Roles AI Cannot Touch

Microsoft Research analyzed more than two hundred thousand anonymized Bing Copilot sessions to calculate an AI applicability score that shows how often AI tools assist with routine tasks in various jobs.

Occupations in software development, data science, market research analysis, financial analysis, and writing scored highest, indicating significant AI support.

Hands-on roles such as dishwashing, masonry, gas pump operation, and embalming scored lowest, reflecting minimal AI involvement.

The report cautions that a high applicability score does not necessarily lead to layoffs because business decisions around AI adoption depend on many factors beyond tool capabilities.

40 “Safest” Occupations

The safest jobs have a few key factors; High physicality or dexterity, situational awareness, and emotional intelligence / human touch.

These careers are much more difficult to replace than computer based roles, at least in the short term. Robotics are predicted to play a major role in the near future, but at the present, these roles are not at highest risk.

40 Most “At-Risk” Occupations

Knowledge based jobs, customer-facing communication, and content-creation jobs are all at high risk.

Now, all these occupations do require human connection, so this may be an indicator that using AI to supplement and increase efficiency will give an extreme competitive advantage in these spaces.

US Ends Parcel Duty Relief

The US will scrap the $800 de minimis duty-free threshold on international parcels. Platforms like eBay and Etsy face new tariffs on low-value shipping.

Small business owners and side hustlers must revamp pricing, shipping partners, and inventory strategies to maintain profitability.

JD.com to Buy Europe’s Ceconomy

JD.com agreed to acquire Germany’s Ceconomy for €2.2 billion, gaining access to MediaMarkt and Saturn’s 1000 stores.

No layoffs are planned for three years, but logistics and store managers should map out AI integration skills like data analytics and supply chain automation to secure leadership spots.

Apple undercuts growth hopes

Apple forecasted a 4.2 percent revenue rise in Q3 to $89.3 billion but warned that 25 percent U.S. tariffs on Indian-made iPhones and a delayed AI overhaul for Siri and Apple Intelligence could cap margins and slow hiring in hardware and software teams.
